TAKING YOU INTO THE MOUNTAINS

The ACMG is the professional association of trained and certified mountain guides, ski guides, alpine guides, rock guides, hiking guides, via ferrata guides and climbing instructors dedicated to upholding and advancing the profession of mountain guiding and climbing instruction in Canada.

Our vision is to serve and be trusted as the national leaders, ambassadors and stewards in mountain travel and climbing activities and instruction.

Protection, connection and inspiration in the mountains and in climbing.

Who we are

Since 1963, the ACMG has been the voice for all aspects of mountain guiding and instruction in Canada. We were the first guiding association outside of Europe to be recognized by the International Federation of Mountain Guides Associations (IFMGA).

What we do

Training and Assessment

The ACMG's Training and Assessment Program is a professional level industry training program that prepares students for a multitude of careers within the climbing, hiking and skiing sectors of the Adventure Tourism industry.

Programs follow a blended delivery model and are comprised of a mix of theoretical online, in-class, and in the field instruction, and practical field-based assessment. Training curriculums and the assessment criteria, adhere to the high standards established by the ACMG, and are recognized by the International Federation of Mountain Guides Associations.

Professionalism

We uphold and advance the profession of mountain guiding and climbing instruction in Canada by holding members accountable to the ACMG's policies and procedures, including our Code of Conduct, Scope of Practice, and Professional Practice and Continuing Professional Development standards. Developing and administering rigorous standards for certification and professional conduct.

Advocacy

We aid in the professionalism of our members through public advocacy and program delivery.
