Who we are
Since 1963, the ACMG has been the voice for all aspects of mountain guiding and instruction in Canada. We were the first guiding association outside of Europe to be recognized by the International Federation of Mountain Guides Associations (IFMGA).

What we do
Training and Assessment
The ACMG's Training and Assessment Program is a professional level industry training program that prepares students for a multitude of careers within the climbing, hiking and skiing sectors of the Adventure Tourism industry.
Programs follow a blended delivery model and are comprised of a mix of theoretical online, in-class, and in the field instruction, and practical field-based assessment. Training curriculums and the assessment criteria, adhere to the high standards established by the ACMG, and are recognized by the International Federation of Mountain Guides Associations.
Professionalism
We uphold and advance the profession of mountain guiding and climbing instruction in Canada by holding members accountable to the ACMG's policies and procedures, including our Code of Conduct, Scope of Practice, and Professional Practice and Continuing Professional Development standards. Developing and administering rigorous standards for certification and professional conduct.
Advocacy
We aid in the professionalism of our members through public advocacy and program delivery.

What our members do
Our members are the heart and soul of our association. They are a dedicated, skilled group of individuals, trained and certified to guide and instruct climbing, hiking, and skiing adventures across Canada and around the world. Our members also work as safety professionals in areas such as mountain rescue, avalanche research and forecasting.

Interested in becoming a professional ACMG Guide or Climbing Instructor?
Aspiring guides and climbing instructors can obtain certification through the ACMG Training and Assessment Program. The Association's professional level industry training program prepares students for a multitude of exciting careers within the climbing, hiking and skiing sectors of the Adventure Tourism industry.
