Mission
Scholarship Committee’s mission is to assist ACMG members in the continuation of their certification by administering the ACMG Scholarship Program.
Structure
This staff committee includes the ACMG Director of Operations as chair, and three or more ACMG members in good standing. The President and Executive Director are ex-officio members.
Authority
The Scholarship Committee has the authority to decide on scholarship applications and to make recommendations to changes in the ACMG Scholarship Program (Active Agent).
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Send reminders to the ACMG membership at least 60 days in advance of scholarship application deadlines
- Decide on and inform scholarship winners
- Liaise with the ACMG membership office, Thompson Rivers University and scholarship program sponsors as appropriate regarding scholarship winners
- Collaborate with admin team regarding award ceremony logistics at AGM social event
- Inform ACMG IT specialist of scholarship winners for posting on ACMG websites
- Follow up with scholarship winners who have not utilized their scholarship within 2 years of the award; inform ACMG Member Services manager if scholarship amounts should be returned to appropriate funds
- Recommend changes to the ACMG Scholarship Program
- Provide an article for the ACMG Annual Report detailing scholarship winners
- Report to and advise the ACMG Executive Director and Board of Directors when requested to do so
- Recruit new members as necessary
