Iron Instructions
Disclaimer – Using a hot iron on satin, plastic, nylon or polyester is generally not recommended. Since a lot of outdoor clothing contains nylon or polyester, it is advisable to check the label of your garment before ironing, to start with a cooler iron, and maybe also, to run a test on an old or similar garment.
- Get a lightweight, fairly flat cotton cloth, like a tea towel (not fuzzy like a bath towel) that is quite a bit bigger than the surface of your iron. Moisten it with water until it is damp all over, but not wet.
- Preheat your iron to a Medium heat setting to start with, no steam.
- With a hair dryer, pre-warm the adhesive on the back of the crest.
- Position the crest on your garment (sticky side down, lol).
- Cover the crest with the damp cloth. Iron with firm pressure for 20 to 30 seconds. Allow to cool.
- Turn the garment inside out, and repeat the above procedure on the inside of the garment. Allow to cool.
- Turn garment right-side out. If the crest has not adhered, repeat the above steps with a progressive hotter iron, but no steam. (At this point, you will have to re-moisten your pressing cloth.)
- For extra strength and staying power, some people recommend stitching around the crest as well.
