Mission
The Mental Health Committee provides support, direction, and advice for the ACMG and its mental health initiatives. The committee considers preventative measures, ongoing training, and critical response initiatives to member needs.
Structure
This committee is comprised of a chairperson and at least three ACMG members in good standing. The committee should also include, as advisors, two non-ACMG members with specific expertise in counselling, therapy, or other mental health related fields. The ACMG President and Executive Director are ex-officio members.
Authority
Working within the framework of the Simon Parboosingh Assistance Fund Policy the committee has the authority to act on Simon Parboosingh Assistance Fund applications. This committee also has the authority to recommend and advise on mental health initiatives to the Executive Director (Active Advisor). The committee will carry out projects approved by the Executive Director.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Recommend and advise on mental health initiatives
- Recommend and advise on mental health CPDs
- Recommend and enact long term funding processes for the Simon Parboosingh Assistance Fund
- Form ad hoc committees as required for Simon Parboosingh Assistance Fund applications
- Survey and inform ACMG membership on the status of mental health within the ACMG
- Support and increase conversation and awareness of the importance of mental health for ACMG members
- Report to and advise the ACMG Executive Director and Board of Directors when requested to do so
- Recruit new members as necessary
