First Aid Certification

First aid training is a crucial part of every ACMG member’s professional foundation. Whether working in remote mountain settings or indoor climbing gyms, being ready to respond swiftly and effectively to injuries or emergencies is a vital skill. Current first aid certification ensures that ACMG members possess the knowledge, confidence, and practical skills to provide immediate care in the field until medical assistance arrives. Keeping your certification up-to-date demonstrates your commitment to safety, professionalism, and the well-being of your clients.
First Aid Certification Requirements

ACMG student and professional members have several options for obtaining and maintaining their first aid certification.

For the Mountain Guide and Hiking Guide Programs, an Advanced Wilderness First Aid course with a minimum of 80 hours is required. Although wilderness first aid courses are preferred, Occupational First Aid Level 3 is also accepted.

The Climbing Instructor Programs require a Standard First Aid Course. These courses usually run over a two-day period (minimum 16 hrs), combining theory and practical sessions to provide the basis for dealing with traumatic and medical emergencies. Some of the Advanced First Aid Certification Providers below also offer Standard First Aid.

Medical practitioner exemptions include:

  • Emergency Room Doctor
  • Emergency Room Nurse
  • Paramedic or EMT

For more information on first aid certification requirements, see the ACMG First Aid Certification Policy or contact us if you have any questions.
