Awards Committee

Mission

The Awards Committee helps the ACMG celebrate the accomplishments of its members by coordinating the granting and delivery of ACMG awards. It also works to ensure that the ACMG properly honours and recognizes those who have consistently contributed to the Association and the profession over an extended period of time.

Structure

This committee is comprised of a chairperson plus a minimum of two additional ACMG members in good standing. The ACMG President and Executive Director are ex-officio members.

Authority

Working within the framework of the ACMG Award and Recognition Policy, the committee is empowered to receive nominations and recommend nominees to the Board of Directors for ACMG awards (Active Advisor). The committee also has the authority to make recommendations for changes to the ACMG Award and Recognition Policy.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Received nominations and canvass appropriate people regarding potential recipients of ACMG awards
• Bring forward list of ACMG Award nominees to Board of Directors for approval
• Inform award recipients once decision has been made and invite them to the ACMG award ceremonies
• Obtain bios and photos of awards recipients and prepare a presentation for the ACMG Awards ceremonies
• Provide award recipient bios and photos to the ACMG administration for inclusion on the ACMG’s website
• Conduct an annual review of committee performance and provide a report to the board
• Report to and advise the ACMG Executive Director and Board of Directors when requested to do so
• Recruit new members as necessary
